Free Travel Passes For 18 y/o #DiscoverEU




Travelling is one of the most important things a young person can do to broaden their minds, prospects, horizons and networks. From mobilites, to completing a semester abroad, there are many benefits and opportunities that can be gained and last a lifetime.

Free travel passes through #DiscoverEU has made these opportunities easier for young people to access.

*Almost 50,000 young people have received a travel pass since the first application round in 2018

#DiscoverEU is an initiative of the European Union that gives you the opportunity to discover Europe through learning experiences. Travelling predominantly by rail (there are exceptions to allow those living on islands or in remote areas), you will discover Europe’s stunning landscapes and its variety of cities and towns. Young people can apply during the two application rounds which take place each year. Successful applicants are awarded with a travel pass.

Who can apply?

You can only apply for DiscoverEU if you:

  • are 18 years old on 31 December 2019, i.e. born between 1 January 2001 (included) and 31 December 2001 (included);
  • have the nationality of one of the Member States of the European Union;
  • fill in your correct ID or passport number on the online application form;

If awarded, you can travel for a period of minimum one day and up to 30 days between 1 April 2020 and 31 October 2020.

Young people with special needs are welcome to participate in #DiscoverEU. They will be helped with information and tips, and costs of special assistance might be covered.

Note: If you travelled with #DiscoverEU in the previous application rounds, then you are not eligible to apply for this round.
