Some may not be aware, but today is International Youth Day and people worldwide are celebrating the rich cultural diversity, promise and hope the worlds’ youth bring in some of our most testing times.

The National Assembly of Youth Organisations of the Republic of Azerbaijan have created an amazing video to display the many positive aspects youth bring to the world we live in, and reflects a growing number of bright, dynamic, tolerant and diverse young people making a positive impact in their communities.

The main purpose of the video was to bring to the attention of the world community the diversity of the youth all over the globe and the importance of their role in society.

The theme for this years’ celebration was The Road to 2030: Eradicating Poverty and Achieving Sustainable Consumption and Production.

This day focused on achieving the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the leading role young people play in ensuring poverty eradication and achieving sustainable development through sustainable consumption and production.

A statement featured on the UN website read:

“Sustainable consumption entails the use of products and services that meet the basic needs of communities while safeguarding the needs of future generations. The development and promotion of individual choices and actions that increase the eco-efficiency of consumption of all and minimise waste and pollution is critical to achieving equitable socioeconomic development.”

So once again Happy International Youth Day!!
